Lipstick timeline Final

after listening to critic I have changed a few things:
1) I have altered the color of the lips due to the events. 2) added some stock photos since it was impossible to make sprinkled lips or Lady Gaga's lips. Overall I think it is fine.

MY KE$HA INFOGRAPH (You know you love it!)

SOOO... after going through hell
and back again with this project I
finally chose a topic to do. Since I
am a die hard Ke$ha fan I figured
do what you love, right? Anyways
I wanted to create a grunge- like feel
to my work. And although ALL of
her songs are slutty and/or wild based
I chose innocent icons to well play against it.
Call it my own little twist to Ke$ha.

Although there is a lot of text I think it
is kind of necessary due to the fact that
her songs are so detailed oriented and its
so hard to narrow the lyrical meaning down.

But overall I think I got the jest of it
ENJOY!

Analyzing Gallery Work

Within the frame this work is stunning! You are focused on the graphic and design. It is full of simple textures, a summerly color pallet, and the cropping allows the piece to have movement. I think it such a show stopper.
Now this work of art in a poster format is interesting. It has a differnt tone than the one in the fame. It is a much larger scale and I find the font to be a little distracting. The contrast of colors (black and white) is over powering. I think the font takes away from the design. Looking at it as a whole I feel that as a viewer I loose impact.

I love this! I mean it I love this! The simplicity of this icon is soooo amazing. This is for Charlie's Angels. I loved all of these posters because I felt you really had to know the show to know the icon. It fits for the die hard fans! The white speaker box is Charlie! I am a HUGE fan of the old tv shows and the movies.
I was blown away when I saw this in the Gallery.

Other Icon graphs

This Graph is a simple color coded bar graph. I really like this one because it shows a key and displays a uprising in "pay". The thing I would take out of this one is the design of the bars.
I adore this graph!!! I think the icons are well displayed and like our teacher said it looks like abstract art. I love how the text is not so over powering and it pretty much comes down to the icons.
This one is neat because I love how it has shape. I like the idea of filling the icon and I like the key. Its simple and still obtaining some design.

Revised Abstract Assignment

After listening to my fellow peers comments I chose to do color. I picked a grey/silver color and applied it to a the heel of my shoes. I think this a subtle effect is great!

Cooper Black Icon Directions (The Charleston)

After a LONG time and consideration I thought of what to do with my icons. So seeing how my font was made in the 1921 I thought what better way to show it off is by giving directions to the Charleston Dance. I hope it makes sense and I would like nothing more than the honesty of my fellow peers! Can't wait to see you all bright and early. -Kathryne

Symbols Blog

Symbols are very important to use and understand in today's world. They can create sound through images, they can represent an object or an action, and even a brand or logo. I love how all of these symbols are simple and easy to read. While reading the entire blog my favorite part was the Rebus.

The fact that you can build sound out of images is MIND BLOWING! I first thought of the infamous I love you sign then I moved on just trying to find more rebuses.

Cooper Black Icons

This Font was invented in  the year 1921. So naturally I decided to do a Flapper theme with my icons

Peace Sign 1/18/11

In the 1960’s the Peace symbol head its impact during the Vietnam War. The three pronged shape and circle for an antiwar movement.  The Peace sign can bring both a positive and negative implications.  The downward prong meant death while the positive side meant life and fertility.  After seeing the peace symbol I immediately thought of the Mercedes car logo. Being somewhat similar in shape I find both symbols to be striking and significant.  Then I thought of sign language version of Peace. Then I think of Christ's hands as they were nailed to the cross. I think that (and I don't to mean to be full on religious) but dying for our sins was a meaningful way to bring peace towards man.

The Nazi Symbol (Jan 16,11)

The Nazi symbol the Swastika was considered to be one of the most fear symbols of our time. However the invention and development of the mark isn’t so popular. After reading this 4 page article I was amazed at how much Hitler wanted to be involved with it.  I always figured him as only a strict military dictator but never an artist. That fact that he understood how to make and use symbolism, propaganda, and overall design for his cause was quiet clever. Everything down to shape and color pallet was detailed oriented.

The Swastika always reminds me as a crooked cross that just needs some straightening. One part I found that they compared it to a sun cross.   Although they couldn't be more different in meaning they share one comparison that they have a great effect on  people.

Whenever I see the cross I think of redemption. Redemption is being saved. After WWI Germany was a wreck and in a way they brought a wave of hope and redemption to the country. The photo I used for Redemption was from the Movie Shaw Shank Redemption.
